About the Cheshire County Bowling Association

Aims of the Association

The Cheshire County Bowling Association exists to promote, organise and govern Crown Green Bowls in its area. It operates in conjunction with the British Crown Green Bowling Association and is governed by its rules and bye-laws.

We run several competitions for Cheshire bowlers:

We also enter senior and junior teams in the BCGBA county competition.

The dates of these competitions (and other events) for the 2012 season are now available.

Affiliation forms

It’s the time of year for clubs and leagues to renew their affiliation, and also to make entries to the Brunner and De-Knoop Cups, and Inter-league competition. It’s also not too early to enter the Merit or Junior Merit. All the paperwork you need is now available on the forms page.

Annual General Meeting

The Annual General Meeting was held on 29 October. The meeting approved various rule changes:

  • Eligibility for team competitions
  • Teams to phone in match results as well as posting
  • Procedure for final day of team competitions
  • Various increases in fees

Bowlers’ membership cards

All bowlers playing in competitions organised by Cheshire CBA or in any of the affiliated leagues are required to hold life membership of the BCGBA and of Cheshire CBA. The membership cards can be obtained from the County Registrar:

Mr John Small
17 Farriers Way

He can also be contacted via the Contacts page.

Applications should enclose the fee (£6 for BCGBA membership and £3 for Cheshire membership). If you are applying only for Cheshire membership (e.g. if you have a BCGBA card via another county), please enclose a stamped addressed envelope. New members of BCGBA receive a Welcome Pack, which won’t fit in a small envelope.
